lil gaza

Outside of Geo Kayes bar on broadway and 41st, saw this: seemed poignant. Signs and Graphitti prohibited. lil gaza tagged over. I don’t know who lil gaza is, if that is the artist’s name but the political implication is there and to me it was undeniable. Graphitti is all about power and art: the balance and worth of space, value and beauty. Ownership, legitamacy and identity all struggling for definition under the auspice of voice, contrasting the artist from their community; which is our tough lil Oakland, means something.
